This is just one of the many (approx. 20) hornets nests that we've killed over the summer. This one happened to be inside our patio umbrella. I couldn't resist getting close enough to take a picture. This nest was about 5" in diameter. Just days before this one, our family was enjoying dinner out on the patio. We had a couple of hornets buzzing around us, so we thought we would quickly swat them to their death.
